We all set off from the car park...

headed up into the lower forest

Set about making shelters

 

 

 

 

 

Hiked to the top of the hill

And enjoyed a picnic snack...

before heading back home again.

Wed 27 Feb -BP Birthday

We started with our favourite and very noisy game of duster hockey

 

Then went for a fun Compass Scavenger Trail around the block.

We found Thingamajigs... 

Whatchamacalits....

and Wingdings....

Today we heard the story of Lord Baden Powell and how Scouts was founded.
We practiced our fishing....

And put together the Cub Promise.

Be Prepared For Anything 20 feb 2013

 

 

We started off with a game of Cat and Mouse which we all enjoyed so had to play a second round.

We then revised points of the compass so we could make a weather vane.

 

They all worked and pointed in the same direction!

We played a bit of jump rope...

And then had a round of Flip the Fish.

District Camp Fire- Fri 8 February 2013

On Friday it was time for our annual District Camp Fire, which was once again very well supported by cubs and scouts from all over the Liesbeek District. Its great to see that we are part of an extensive scouting community!

We started with Flag Break and Opening Prayer: it was great to see 2nd Rondebosch well represented.

Once the fire was lit the camp fire activities commenced:

 

 

 

Well done to Brandon, Orion, Tristan and Charles for putting on a great skit for us.

We started with a new game called "Do you like your neighbour?" which went down well...
followed by an energetic game of "Chair Soccer":

 

Orion did a talk on Pollution as part of his Leaping Wolf badge:

WE all then learnt how compasses work, and split into Advancement Groups.

Caracals made a plate compass, Cheetahs made a floating compass and Leopards learnt how to read a street map.

We finished off with a "Identify the Fruit" game -all of which I forgot to take photos!

 

Pool Party

We kicked off the year with our (what is now becoming a tradition) Pool Party.

First some free time to swim and shoot each other with water guns

then a game of "Battleships and Submarines"

followed by a "Stick bread Braai" (always a big hit)

 

and finished off with an ice cream.
